Korach haftorah: 1 Samuel 11:14-12:22

The people of Israel asked for a king like the other nations, when they saw that Samuel’s sons were following the same path as Eli’s sons. The point is, Samuel was NOT the ruler of Israel: God (Yahveh) was King, and Samuel was His envoy.
The Ark of the Pact/Covenant was actually in the form of a Semitic throne, but with the heavenly messengers facing the King rather than the people. By His Spirit, Yahveh guides His own people; He is totally sufficient as King, as Father, and as Guide. By asking for Saul as a king, the people rejected Yahveh as king; rebellion by lack of trust, and eventually, Saul lost the kingship by following his own will rather than Yahveh’s will.
David restored the proper relationship by serving and following Yahveh with all of His heart; Yeshua, the ultimate Davidic King, said “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.” He was the perfect representation of the Father’s kingship.
