Chukkat “Regulation (Wisdom) (from the Torah)” Pt 1: Numbers 19:1-17
Death defiles us, and we need a unblemished sacrifice to cleanse us from its taint. This is a “Chuk”, a wisdom command, which points to something greater, that an unblemished red heifer must be sacrificed as a burnt offering and the ashes used to cleanse anybody who touches a dead body.
We are subject to sin, illness, death, and without God’s (Yahveh’s) grace, we cannot escape its effects. But if we receive fully in our hearts the spotless sacrifice Yahveh sent, Yeshua His own Son, we are set free, no longer trapped in fear but raised to new life in hope, joy, peace, and love. So let us live in the joy of our salvation, and live pure lives as a witness to the one who has set us free.
