Chukat “Regulation (wisdom) (from the Torah/Instructions to the goal) Pt. 4: Numbers 20:14 – 21
The kinsman-nation of Israel turns them away. The children of Edom, descended from Jacob’s brother, would not allow Israel to enter their territory, even to use the King’s Highway, which should have been open to them. Instead, they opposed them with their army.
We are instructed by Paul, “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.” By doing so, we promote unity and an opening for the Good News to advance the Kingdom. By opposing rather than even staying neutral, Edom made an enemy of Israel and, as a result, Yahveh.
When we act out of fear or greed or pride (which are rooted in lack of love and faith), and push away our brother in need, we oppose His purpose. Let the peace we have through Yeshua translate into peace with each other!
