Chukat “Regulation (wisdom) (from the Torah/Instructions to the goal) Pt. 6: Numbers 21:6 – 20
The people rebel again, and God (Yahveh) disciplines them and provides for them. The people complained, because they were impatient, about how Yahveh was providing for them. So He sent poisonous snakes among them.
Their tongues were poisonous, so Yahveh sent something like to show them the consequences. When they repented, they had to look at an image of a snake to be healed, to remind them of their need to repent. Then Yahveh provided wells of water for them, and they celebrated.
We often do not appreciate all that Yahveh does for us, and rather than complain about what we lack, we nee to praise Him for what we have and where we are going. Otherwise, we may poison the very thing He is doing for us. He loves us, He knows us, He is all-powerful. Let us trust Him fully as good, gracious, and sufficient!
