Balak “Balak == waste,destruction” Pt 5: Numbers 23:13-26
God (Yahveh) puts a second word in Bilaam’s mouth, to proclaim to Balak Who He really is. Balak is told to listen, ans the first thing he is told, is that Yahveh does not change His mind, but is sovereign over all things. Since Yahveh chooses to bless Israel, Israel will be blessed. And that blessing is: no guilt is seen in Jacob (Ya’akov), Yahveh is their king, and He gives them strength and protection.
This is not by Israel’s actions: Israel has already sinned plenty. But Yahveh has made and promised and put in place His salvation, His atonement, through Yeshua, and Israel as a people is His vehicle, and the Israel that is grafted in through faith in Yeshua is its fulfullment.
So Israel is seen through Yahveh’s sovereign promise and purpose, not through the eyes of the world. And Balak now has a choice foreshadowed: If he continues his opposition, he and his people will be “prey”.
