Foreigner

Torah bit for today: We are to love the “foreigner” who dwells among us. The word is “ger”, one who is not merely passing through, but chooses to dwell with us and Yahveh in shalom. We were “gerim” in Egypt, when Pharoah had Joseph bring Jacob and all his family in during the famine. They were shepherds, which was disgusting to the Egyptians, but they were invited in anyway. So, we too should be hospitable, encouraging, and accepting (without lowering Yahveh’s standards) of those who join us, even if we are not fully comfortable with them. Remember, we were strangers, even enemies, of Yahveh before we were brought to shalom with Him through Messiah Yeshua. We are to be His welcoming arms to those who, like us, turn from wicked ways, thoughts, and identities and choose to make peace with Him through Yeshua.
