B’ha’alotkha “When you set up” Pt 7: Numbers 11:30-12:15
Miriam and Aharon criticize Moshe for remarrying an Ethiopian woman, and Yahveh chastises them by striking Miriam with leprosy.
Moshe is truly humble (and he is writing this!) because he truly wants what Yahveh wants. Aharon and Miriam are jealous and critical; they are not focused on Yahveh but on Moshe and what they think are his shortcomings, on why they are as good. Aharon is high priest, so Yahveh does not make him unclean, but strikes Miriam as one who has “spat in the face of her father.”
We need to encourage, love, and support each other in the paths the Spirit is leading each of us on, for His purpose. We can not impose or be jealous on another, but bear one anothers burdens in love, lest we end up spitting in the face of our Abba.
