Naso (Take) Pt. 2: Numbers 4:34-49
This count of the Levites is of those between 30 and 50, who were to work in the service of the Tent of Meeting. The other census, for military service, was 20 and older.
The service of the tent of Meeting required discernment and skill: you were trained until age 30, then served for 20 years, then passed on your duties but still were able to teach and train.
We need to prepare each other to serve Yahveh. We need to teach, encourage, and prepare those who are in training to be as good or better than we are, and not hold onto status or ego by keeping them at arms length.
